Google Left Me a Gift Over the Weekend
I’ve been out of town for much of the weekend, so I’ve had no connection at all to the online world. I had no idea that I would get home and have a Page Rank of 4 for Random Jabber. It was quite a surprise to say the least. It’s funny that my last post was about Page Rank driving me nuts and then a week later, I have a Page Rank of 4.
The update really won’t change anything with Random Jabber, but it’s definitely nice to know that if I decide to pursue selling advertising on the Random Jabber that I could do so and be somewhat confident that I wouldn’t totally get brushed off by advertisers because of my zero Page Rank.
Just a Hair Late
I’m planning on going live with NiceStylesheet by the end of the week, so the only bad thing about the Page Rank update is that NiceStylesheet will be at a zero until the next update. I’ve been working my tail off trying to get the site ready to go live, but I was just a bit late.

Did you see an increase in Page Rank this time ‘round?

I wouldn’t worry about your new site, and its lack of a PR. I started on my new domain two and a half weeks ago, and I was glad that Google overlooked giving me a PR. Maybe I’m different, but when I see a PR1 or PR2, it gives me the impression that the site lacks authority, and hasn’t made much of an impact on the web. If it has a PR0, I think it must just be starting, or have switched domains recently.
Maybe my view is a little messed up though…

Congratulations for your PR4. I got there too, and it felt nice.
Now we actually have the same PR as ProBlogger

Armen makes a great point about a PR0 being better than a PR1 or 2.
Congrats on your 4, Deron. I notched another and have returned to 5 (where I was before I moved my blog from davidairey.com/blog to davidairey.com/.

Brian: Thanks Brian I appreciate that. I think the Sizcons was really what did it for me. I received tons of link backs once those hit in Smashing Magazine. 2 isn’t bad for not having many links yet. If you keep publishing content like the “why I blog” series, I predict you’ll start accumulating links in a hurry. It was a good read I enjoyed it.
Armen: Yeah, that actually makes sense. Never thought about it that way.
Jarkko: Well congrats to you as well! The same PR as ProBlogger eh? If only that meant my traffic levels were the same. lol
David: Thanks! Congrats to you too on your 5. That’s great David! I think your site receiving a 5 just shows how big a gap there must be between getting a 4 ranking and a 5. I’ve got some work to do.
Nupur: Wow, congrats on your 5! That’s great!

That cool. So you will be gaining more and more visitor then. It will appear even more results in google.

I think, the PR will drop as a main AdSelling-Feature. They changed so much, big and old websites dropped down, sometimes by 2 (!) PRs. Others went straight up. Nice, right? No, not really. You cannot rely on that anymore. And I sometimes think: Why is there a PR-3-Website first on a search-Site from Google and the second is a PR-4-Website? If PR 4 is better for listing, why is that? It´s definately not the only reason why a website is up in front.

Keep your content quality and consistency up and I’m sure you’ll bring much more traffic in future.

Thanks Deron!
I’ll do that!
Oh, and did you know, your Sizecons page has a PR of 3? That’s really good for a sub-page of your web site.
Bravo!

Piseth: Yeah, I hope so. I actually don’t see much traffic from search engines right now so it would be nice to get a little more. It doesn’t really both me though, it’s good that the site continues to grow without search engines as one day Google may make a change completely remove you from the SERP, then you’re stuck if it’s your only source of traffic.
Aiyoota!-CMS: Yeah PR is definitely not the be all end all guide to which site is better. At least not now, but it’s still nice to see a number down there in my status bar.
Daivd: Yeah, hopefully so. I’m pleased with everything thus far after almost six months of blogging, so we’ll see how it goes in the next six months.
Brian: Yeah I noticed that. I figured if anything the Sizcons page would have a higher PR than my homepage. A lot of the links into my site go directly to the Sizcons page and not the homepage.
Marina: Well congrats on your PR 4! It’s very nice indeed.

Google bumped my blog from a 0 to a 4, just like yours
Also, my three newest ecommerce clients rose from 0’s to PR2, PR3, and another PR3 respectively. All in all, this was a good update for us.

My name is Deron Sizemore and I am a web designer, web publisher, blogger and serial internet entrepreneur living in Lexington, Kentucky.

I wasn’t expecting anything, but I’m a page rank of two now!
After all, the only links I have recieved from blogs was three from you (for top commentor, and something else...) and then one from FreedomIdeas.com just the other day for Part II of my Why Blog series.
I was excited about that…
But gosh, I wasn’t expecting anything…
I was expecting something for you though - you have a great blog and you’ve recieved a lot of links. You deserve it.
Congrats!
