My Favorite Firefox Add-Ons Revisited

If you’re a visitor to my blog (I know you’re out there, I have the stats to prove it!) you probably noticed my FireFox Add-Ons entry. Since I wrote that entry, I’ve come across a few more add-ons that I’ve found very useful. Check ‘em out, maybe you’ve not aware of them and will find them useful as well.
1. Better Gmail
Better Gmail is an add-on to improve your Gmail experience in FireFox. A few of the highlights of Better Gmail are: attachment icons, conversion preview (without actually going into the message), hide Gmail invites, different skins to change the look of Gmail, and the ability to open all mailto links in Gmail by default. There are some other options that I wont list as these are the ones that I found most useful.
2. Dummy Lipsum
When I’m designing sites, during the testing state, I’ll use Lorem Ipsum for the content areas of the site. In the past I’ve simply went to the Lorem Ipsum site and copy what I need and past it into my test site. With the Dummy Lipsum add-on in FireFox, this stage of development becomes a little easier, as I can create a small button next to the address bar of my browser that generates Lorem Ipsum text, all I have to do is tell it how many paragraphs to generate. It’s a neat little add-on that makes things a little easier, although not like it was outrageously difficult to generate Lorem Ipsum before this add-on.
3. HTML Validator
This add-on adds HTML validation tools right inside of your FireFox browser. This comes in handy if you’re ever without access to the internet and you’re developing a site. Simply view your code inside of FireFox and this tool will validate your HTML when you’re not connected.
4. Measure It
The measure it add-on adds a small tool to your status bar that when activated, you’ll be able to draw out a ruler to get pixel width and height of any element on a website. This add-on really comes in handy if you’re curious as to the width of a website, width and height of an image, how much padding and margin has added to an element. I’m sure there is a whole slew of other things this add-on could be used for, but these are the main three that I use it for.

Hi Brian. Glad that I could lead you to a couple new add-ons. Thanks for the comments on the site! It’s a work in progress, but I like where it’s at thus far.
You have a very nice looking site as well. Pretty cool that you worked for HallMark Cards. Were you a designer for them? What kind of fade in effect is that you’re using on your Internet Endeavor? I thought it was flash at first, but it doesn’t seem to be…
