My First Guest Post

I don’t have a lot of time here, so I’ll make it quick. Just wanted to let everyone know about my first guest post. Adnan from Blogtrepreneur asked me a couple weeks ago if I would write a guest post. I was honored to even be asked to write a guest post, so there was no doubt I would be writing one.

The idea came up the other day when I asked another designer that I chat with every now and again his opinion of a design and he pointed out that the text really looked “jagged.” Turns out he had ClearType disabled on his machine so all of his fonts were aliased, which makes the text seem jagged. I get in a bad habit myself sometimes of not checking my designs with ClearType enabled as well as disabled to ensure that visitors who may not have ClearType enabled (quite a bit of users) will get a similar experience as those with it enabled.

I just finished updating Nice Stylesheet with 10 new designs and I’ve got quite a bit of other work left to do, so that’s the reason for the short post. I hope to get back to some regular articles by the end of the week or early next week.

Anyway, if you get a chance, go check it out and maybe leave me some feedback.

lol
I do sleep.

I just get lucky I guess…
I was online when you were updating NiceStylesheet so I was rating them as you were posting them.  I rated some of your designs before you had posted all ten!
That surprised me!

Other than that, I just have to credit my amazing Macintosh Computer and a wonderful thing called RSS.
wink

Awesome and thanks again for the great guest post - was really interesting for me as I hadn’t heard of ClearType before.

And lol at Brian - that’s good branding right there. wink

Great post on Blogtrepreneur on a topic that alot of people seem to forget about! I have a PC so im lucky in that i get to test Cleartype enabled/disabled on my site designs. I also saw you featured my website on Nicestylesheet, thanks for the thumbs up! I am in the (lengthy) process of re-designing and adding a blog (long overdue) so hopefully the new design will also get a mention!

Brian: Yeah, I noticed that as I was uploading the designs, someone was rating them. I should have known who it was. smile

BTW: When you were rating the designs, are you getting the “thanks for voting” message when you vote?

Adnan: No problem at all. I appreciate you giving me the chance at my first guest post.

Grace: Thanks a lot! Glad you liked it. Yes, it’s something that is easily overlooked.

Definitely submit your re-design to Nice Stylesheet once it’s complete and I’ll update. smile

It’s a nice touch.

Are you having problems or something?

Brian: Well, not really. Every once in a while here at work if I vote, I don’t get the “thank you” message. The page just refreshes but other times I get the “thank you” message. At home though, I always receive the “thank you” message, so I think it’s just something either with our firewall or network here at work.
